New Cellphone Crap
It looks like we’re going to be able to receive free over-the-air tv on cellphones soon. Yay! Oh, wait, they already had that in Japan when I went. Why did they have it before us?
They also had cellphones that took pictures in 5 megapixels and up. The super fancy iPhone is a 2 megapixel. What is going on here?
They had a bunch of stuff that we don’t have here that I’m betting we’ll be seeing soon. 3D television, computers that could fit in your pocket, super duper bathroom scales, the future looks bright.
It almost seems as if we aren’t quite the innovator we’ve kidded ourselves about being. A few years ago, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il introduced the hamburger to his people and claimed it was his idea. It seemed funny until I realized that we do that too, only with technology.
I’m inclined to believe that companies practice true capitalism and work to bring the best they can in hopes of gaining an edge of their competition. Sometimes I do wonder however. Why is it if the Japanese can have super megapixel phones that get TV and God knows what else, do we get told the newest greatest thing is a phone that has .5 megapixels more and only gets one bar less in reception?

There were a couple of Japanese fighters in our changing room during a thai-box match once and we all wanted to die when they pulled out the polaroid-digital camera.
