it’s kind of an all-or-nothing for me. if you watch a movie that was meant to be 2D, and then they add the 3d effect to it, there isn’t much to it, and definitely not worth the extra cash. however, a good 3d movie, in a theater can be entertaining, the problem comes with home releases…they’ll always suck. they suck because either a) they “down converted” it to 2d, so now all the special in your face effects look ridiculous or b) your screen at home is too small to enjoy the things coming out of your tv.
the other problem with 3d, of course, is that if you wear glasses, the 3d glasses aren’t anywhere near as comfortable as they should be. the polarized ones at IMAX are OK though, they seem to fit over regular glasses pretty well.
