Thanks. I've managed to stick it out so far and it's getting easier. I wish I had as much self control with other areas of my life.

it's tough. whenever you go back "home" I feel a lot of old habits and behaviors from childhood come back to some degree or another. good luck, if you can put up with kieran I know you've got the fortitude for this

I used to think it would feel awkward to watch a movie (in a theater) by myself, but now i don't really care and will go if i really want to see it...i eventually figured out that i don't like all blockbusters, and not everyone has the same taste in movies that i do.

I'm sure there's a ton of genetic, environmental and psychological factors involved, but in the end, we're in control. The good thing is, I like how I feel when I eat right.

I dont understand why as humans we find it so difficult to eat the right thing or the right amount, and find it so easy to stuff all the wrong things into us like it might be our last meal.

If you really want to commit yourself to sensible eating, my advice is to keep an old photo of yourself handy. Failing that, just make sure you find the time to burn it off at the gym!

Rights come from outside of government or law, so neither can give us rights, they can only curb them. As a legal document, The US Constitution doesn't give me the right to free speech, having the physical ability to speak does. To say something is a legal right is really just a way of defining how far we can go with a natural right.

When we organize a society, we agree on how to curb our natural rights in order to function. If I send someone threatening letters, even though I have the right to free speech, threats aren't covered within my legal rights to free speech.

I think the better term is "moral obligation".

I think there's a difference between moral rights and legal rights. some can be related, but they don't have to be.

i'm assuming obama was talking about legal rights, in which case, you only have those rights as long as you live within our legal system.

for example, in might be interesting to find out if we do get universal health care, and you get sick in another country, what happens (since you probably would no longer be paying for insurance)?

i'm assuming travel insurance will become a huge business.
