Let’s see how long this lasts.
I meant to post this on Monday, so many of you have probably already seen the clip I’m going to introduce. Sorry, I got caught up in some things. Naw…I was just lazy.
I don’t like writing topical jokes. While it is fun to be current, the shelf life for them isn’t very good. It can take a while for a joke to go from idea to solid material, and with current event related jokes, once they’re polished, the topic has long past.
Having said that, I can’t control what ideas happen to show up in my head. Sometimes, I do think of things that relate to the day’s headlines. When I get a chance to do them, I will. They’re fun.
So, if they don’t make it into the act, are they any good?
I think so. Here’s the idea:
I don’t like the idea of putting out a lot of the material that I use on stage right now. I’d hate for someone to see something I put up, enjoy it and come to see me only to have me tell the exact same jokes they just watched. Instead, what I’ll do is occasionally (when they come to me and I remember to bring a camera) post topical jokes that I feel represent my sense of humor. That way, I can get the topical jokes out to a bigger audience while they’re relevant while not compromising the material I do when I perform a show.
I call it:
“Topical Jokes I Will Never Tell Again”.
So, here’s the first installment. This was the first and last time I’ll do these jokes on the recent Tiger Woods “scandal”.
